DRIVE TRAIN MEASURING AND ANALYSIS OF ELECTRIC AND HYBRID VEHICLES

Due to the increasing electrification of vehicles in road traffic, the focus is changing with regard to the acquisition and analysis of powertrain-relevant parameters.

The smoother running behaviour of electric drives compared to combustion engines and the missing noise from combustion and exhaust system increases the subjective perception of changed and unfamiliar driving noises. Furthermore, parameters such as battery charging times and electrical ranges of electric vehicles are of great importance. The challenge in the development of these vehicles – among different other things –  is the design and layout of the batteries, battery conditioning and the control strategies of the battery management system.

To validate the powertrain and to simulate various fully or partially electric drive concepts, the overall system is recorded synchronously from the interaction of all subsystems in order to analyse the mutual influence of mechanical torsional vibrations and electrical variables on the system behaviour in different driving situations and as a function of different battery charge conditions.

MEASURMEMENT TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS AND EVALUATION TOOLS FOR ALL APPLICATION PURPOSES

Using the ROTEC RASdelta system, complex measurement tasks are carried out on electric vehicles in order to analyse measurement data in detail and to recognize and interpret the interactions in the overall system.

The high-resolution measurement technology for digital and analog measured variables synchronously records rotational speeds, currents, voltages, CAN signals as well as structure-borne and airborne sound. Thus, for example, the tooth engagement frequencies in the transmission and the resulting sound emissions can be determined. In addition, the battery management system can be optimized and dynamic loads on the drive train during driving can be analysed.
