MEASUREMENTS IN THE GEARBOX

Gearboxes coupled to the drive are excited by torsional vibrations and emit these in the form of transmission errors through the rest of the drive train. The torsional vibrations also cause the housing to vibrate. For evaluation, the rotational speeds at the input shaft as well as at the output shaft of the gearbox are recorded by means of angular step encoders together with structure-borne sound signals from an accelerometer. These data are then used as the basis for evaluating the transmission error in the order domain. The evaluation is performed on a common time or angle basis. The transmission characteristics of a transmission can be measured on the test rig with an electric drive unit that imitates the behavior of an internal combustion engine or, for realistic recording, with an internal combustion engine itself.
